Passing it on…

“Just so you know, I got my mum and my sister hooked on crocheting. Mum has made like 3-ish scarves already! And she’s knitting one too! She loves it!”

* I got this message a couple weeks after a highschool girls night. Alex was hilariously stubborn the night we all hung out. It would seem those who put up the greatest fight end up being the greatest embracers! This girl is a machine : ) She makes the most beautiful scarves! Alex, it was a pleasure to meet you. We’re so encouraged by your eager heart…

Girls Night

Check This Out!

A night filled with success, fun, lots of laughs, and of course FOOD! I was encouraged to plan/host a night filled with excitement, based around Love Knits and invite girls from school. There were seven of us, and we started the night out by making dinner all together! Every girl had to bring some sort of food item to contribute to the night. So, half of us were on dinner, and the other half were on dessert! We made tacos and “Napoleon Dynamite” poutine (my crazy kinda gross creation) and rice crispy squares for dessert. After dessert we went swimming, that was so much fun! We made a whirl pool, that was so crazy you couldn’t even walk backwards!! After swimming, Julie and I taught the girls how to crochet. When everyone had the “skill” we watched a movie and crocheted, knit and chilled for the rest of the night. I love all the girls that came, they all have an awesome place in my heart. I knew all of them from gym class! God has blessed me with girls that LOVE to have fun- and the LK night that I hosted was no different from the rest. The girls had a wonderful time!

* It should be noted only 3 weeks from that night those girls have colelctively made roughly 20 scarves and hats for Love Knits!

Rider Knits Lovin’

Many thanks to RIDER KNITS, for donating almost an entire box of yarn to help start launch Love Knits Summer 2010 up at Muskoka Woods Sports Resort, the place it all started 3 years ago! RIDER KNITS is a local small business dedicated to making you look and feel good by creating some of the sweetest CANADIAN hand knit and crocheted hats and accessories around. Perhaps I’m bias? ; ) Be sure to check them out, I believe they’re working on a new-line up in the months to come!

Thanks again for your generosity RK, rest assured your excess given in love is going to be changing lives this summer…

♥ LK

Bling bling!!

“BLING” LK STYLE COMING SOON!!! Click on thumbnails for bigger picture! We’re in the process of finding creative ways to keep the project moving (raise funds for materials)! It’s a hand-made bead with “lk” stamped into it and a pewter yarn ball & knitting needles charm : ) Cute, eh? We’ll keep you posted as to when you can get your hands on one then you can hang it from your neck or rearview mirror in support of our mission. “Lets give them somethin’ to talk about…”

In other news expect updates over the next couple months of ‘knotty knitters’ and ‘happy hookers’ taking LK to their neighbourhoods, living rooms, schools and summer camps!!

You are loved.

“Knexting”: when you text about knitting…

There’s little I appreciate less than an alarm clock, especially after a sleepless night! I have too many of those, and after 3 in a row this morning my spirits were especially high ; ) I got a text at what felt like the crack of dawn and was shocked it beat my alarm by almost 90 minutes!! A “little sister” had written, in big capital letters:

“JANEY ALREADY FINISHED HER SCARF!”

I started laughing as I got back under the covers, thinking God has a serious sense of humour. A text about knitting is maybe the only excusable reason to be woken up early : ) A bunch of girls met Saturday night and Janey learned to crochet barely 30 hours before that text, and a scarf for anyone let alone a beginner is at least 6-10 hours of work! She crocheted through the movie more diligently than anyone else that night, and obviously didn’t stop once she got home. Janey, you’re one of many reasons this is so worth it. Maddie, thanks for the rise and shine love : )

BOOM

Got an “inbox” from a friend today, worthy of sharing:

I stumbled upon this joke today..dont know if you have ever heard it but it’s funny!!

“A cop was patrolling the beltway and saw a minivan driving somewhat erratically so he flashed his lights. The van didn’t pull over so he drove up beside it and motioned to the driver for her to pull over. He saw what the problem was, she was knitting. He motioned again so she rolled down the window. He rolled down his window and yelled “pull over.” She yelled back, “no, cardigan!”
