Hundreds of Hats

Last year Love Knits collected hats for an elderly care centre in Beclean, Romania.  Check out the May 20, 2009 entry, for pictures of the ladies wearing their beautiful hand-made creations.  This fall amongst other projects we are busy trying to collect 400 hats to put in Christmas gift bags for orphans in a number of orphanages in Romania.  A group of volunteers is heading over on November 20 for a week with International Teams to hand out the bags.  Quick, you’ve only got 3 weeks to make as many hats as possible to contribute to this particular project!

Paper Route

A few weeks ago I wrote up a little flyer asking people to donate their old, unused or forgotten yarn to Love Knits.  I then walked my old paper route and dropped off these little printed flyers (yes, with bows made of yarn) in people’s mailboxes.  Within the next week 7 bags/boxes of yarn were dropped off on my front porch!!  I couldn’t believe it.   I realized the majority of people wouldn’t respond, as yarn isn’t a common house-hold item, but for the ones that did I knew it’d be like hitting the jack-pot!  Thank you to my old Penny Saver route for your generosity, your yarn is fueling a Drop-In Center and a number of other LK projects…
